Wow It's Cold There!

I'm still in Georgia, but was looking at some of my stops coming up in the next few weeks and learning about the towns on the internet. I ran across several severe weather warnings in northwest around South Dakota, Wyoming and Montana! Goodness gracious -26 degrees! I'm gonna have to buy a winter coat before I head over there. I hope everyone is keeping warm. That's just obnoxious!

Meanwhile, this is my last day in Georgia. I had some authentic southern cooking for dinner tonight. It was amazing! But glad it's only for a day. I don't think I could walk if ate like that all the time! I'm enjoying the deep south end of the state. In Bainbridge tonight. Named after U.S. Navy Commodore William - you guessed it - Bainbridge. It's a small town, but the people here are so generous, and the houses are incredible! Here's a shot of one of the houses in the historic district. I  hope everyone has a good night!

Willie Sue's

I've started a jogging habit. I don't know that I'm getting particularly quick, but I figure it's better to be prepared to run at least a mile. I can't imagine exactly why the magic mile marker would really make a difference one way or the other, but offers me some small peace of mind. So I'm keeping it up. I can run about two miles now consistently, but only about a half-mile fast. I tend to wear sneakers at meetings these days. It freaks me out when people have a shoes off policy. I'm afraid this whole trip is making me paranoid. I guess paranoia is a natural side effect of helping people blow shit up. So that's fair. Had an awesome apple, spinach and cheese omelette for breakfast today. Go Willie Sue's! That place is off the hook! This shot is of the senior center where we met tonight. Go Hawks!

Change of Meeting Location

Got to Edgefield around 10am. Had planned to meet in the back room of a local bookstore on Sweetwater Road. At the last minute my contact, who works at the bookstore, texted me that she didn't realize today was a holiday, and she doesn't have a key to open the bookstore without the owner there. Thank you for offering us your basement (you know who you are!). If you were planning to meet us tonight, you should have received an email this afternoon at about 2:15pm with the address and directions to our new meeting location. Please bring a snack or something to drink as a thank you to the family for so courteously welcoming us into their home! Today was a bit hectic, so nothing too photogenic, but I did get this shot on my way into town.

Oak Hill

In Oak Hill, West Virginia today. The river here, I think they call it the New Gorge National River, is beautiful. The people here have a fantastic dialect. I'm trying to pick it up so I don't seem like such a tourist. Though it's probably making me stick out even more. I haven't got it yet. Lunch today in the Oak Hill Diner off exit 34 on Delaney St. I tried on a beard today, a bit itchy, and really warm down here, but not a bad look I think. Here's a shot from downtown. Invited to a dinner party tonight. Small group, but should be pretty cut and dry.

Steakhouse

Yesterday morning seemed like it would never end. I just sat there. It felt like I couldn't move. I think I sat all day. They had HBO so I watched a couple movies. But today is a new day. Drove all morning. Next stop, 7:30PM tonight. Ribs. Not sure which town this is, but at least it's warmer here!
